Been working on a 3d printer with a web based print queue.
Slicing takes place on the server and the 3d printer operates with oout any kind of human interaction.
Parts are automatically ejected from the machine and the next item in the queue is automatically printed.
Ohh. Its also all open source.

Only serious(ish) issue I can see is that you need to clear the ooze from the print nozzle before starting a new print. That bit of plastic is going to bugger up the next print at some point.
But other than that - I like the heath robinson approach, plus I'm a very recent convert to deltas :-)

That issue goes away when you have a nice thick raft. A nice thick raft can make up for a lot of 3d printing sins.
Don't use rafts any more. :-)
That is a cool setup - you could probably just get the head to wipe across a small barrier before starting to print. Deltas ideal for that kind of thing :-)
Natural bristle shaving brush would do the job really well. Plastic bristles would probably melt.
Anything can go wrong if you don't watch the 3D printer for a few minutes after it starts printing. The paper may move while printing.
I covered the bottom of the table where the trap door is with a soft rubber. It grips the paper when clamped.
Ironically, the Davinci's already do this. There's a box that catches the crap that falls from the nozzle, and mounted to that box is a thin metal blade and some sort of foam pad (I'm assuming a high strength, high temp, foam as it's never broken, melted, or deformed). When starting or ending a print, the nozzle brushes against these blades and pads in both the x&y directions, kinda like wiping your feet at a door.Quote:

Been using this for more than 75 prints. About 10 or so had a problem of the paper shifting. That was prior to installing the rubber on the bottom of the table on the trap door clamping surface. that improved things significantly.
I guess the only issue is the rafts buggering up the base of the print.
Never could get them off a print cleanly when i was using abs.
I know it was probably in the video - but I skipped to the parts where things were happening. So what software do you use to print the paper and then trigger the print ?
The gcode sender was custom written by my self. It goes to the server and checks for print jobs every 30 seconds when it is not activly printing. It also prints out the information page to the incjet providing the disposable build plate.
so now all you need is to incorporate it in a nice shiny cabinet and get some crowd funding cash :-)
Been doing some more work on this project.
I am at v3 of the machine.
Switched to using a raspberry pi 0 w as the controller is stead of a netbook. The pi has a real serial interface and the chip doing the usb to serial did not really like emi in terferance with the new linear actuator I was using.

I too print on a disposable print surface, though my surface is a Vinyl transfer Paper Tape used for transferring Cut Vinyl from its origin surface.
Vinyl transfer Paper Tape cost about 10cents per 1 Foot bed covering, is quit a bit more than your single sheet printer paper, though is still disposable and has a adhesive back.
I am interested in having some one replicate the printer.
I have been working through getting the documentation together.

presumably you could mount the pi somewhere on the printer frame.
How easily do the prints detach from the paper ?
I printed a model on a sheet of paper, if you roll the paper under the print model paper comes right off.
On larger prints, I could not keep the single sheet paper flat enough clipped or taped to keep print from warping, even resorted to a 90lb card stock paper.
Could you direct me to a video showing your printer printing a larger 3D Model.

for anyone out there - the $599 for printer and autodrop kit is a bloody good deal, still 10 left !
I am waiting for the next version that has an included 3D scanner so making several copies of a part would be like going to your copy machine and pushing a button. JK... that might be a ways down the road yet, especially for the hobbyist market. Good job and keep up the good work!
So the blue feet for the delta printer in the video we're printed on one of these machines. Don't have video of it but they do certainly work.
The server system is really cool. We intergrated a 100% Java script parametric sketch based 3d modeler in the server software. A user can design an object and print it all from the same interface. You can also just upload your stl files. But that's not as cool. Lol
