Shapeways Announces Porcelain Material
Today, Shapeways made a major announcement regarding available materials for use in 3D printing: the company will soon be making porcelain available. The new material will initially be made available to select designers in the near future, and will be rolled out to all Shapeways users by early 2015. While the porcelain itself will not be printed, the company's SLS machines will 3D print molds to cast objects in porcelain. So then it's not 3D printed porcelain...
"The porcelain is not actually being printed; instead, SLS machines will print molds which are then used to cast the items desired" So in other words, NOT 3D Printed porcelain. This is a service that will print a mold then cast it, glaze it and fire it like traditional porcelain.
