3D Printing Creates New Face for Shot Somali Woman

Twenty five years ago, a 2 year old Samali girl named Ayaan was shot directly in the face. Since then she has been living a secluded life, one in which she is afraid to interact with other people. This all changed thanks to new 3d printing technology:

Ayaan had a 3d printed bone implant attached to her skull, filling in the hole, and allowing Doctors to literally create a new face for the woman. The operation was an amazing success. Here is a picture of Ayan days after the surgery:
