Infant's Life Made More Bearable With 3D Printed Jaw

When Ella Bourg was born, she didn't cry like other newborns. Her lower jaw was deformed as a result of Pierre Robin Syndrome which meant that the base of her tongue was placed to the back of her mouth, blocking her airway. She was rushed to Children's Hospital in Houma, Louisiana where a team of doctors prepared for her surgery by 3D printing surgical guides to ensure that each cut was perfectly placed and no damage was done to nerves or tooth buds during the procedure.
