Organovo Raises $40M

Organovo has announced an additional $40 million in funding via a secondary offering of over 9 million shares at a price of $4.25 per share. The offering will nearly double the company's cash on hand and will provide them with years of operating capital based on their current burn rate of approximately $25 million annually. While shareholders of their stock certainly didn't take well to this news it should make the company quite a bit healthier as they already have 0 debt on their balance sheet. Organovo is well on the way to achieving the goal of 3D bioprinting entire human organs, with exVive 3D Human Liver Tissue already available and exVive Kidnery Tissue in active development. The path is helped along through partnerships and collaborations with such big names as Merck, L’Oréal, and Yale University.
