3D Printed Self-powered Camera

A Columbia University team has taken us back a bit in a mash-up of old technology and new with their creation of a self-powered camera housed in a 3D printed body. The traditional style camera may lack the clarity and convenience of today’s smartphone cameras, but the 3D printed prototype has vast implications regarding harnessing solar energy further to reduce our enslavement to the battery. The 3D printed camera could point to innovations in 24-hour video surveillance as well as be transferred to other electronics like wearable watches and smartphones.
