Can anyone tell me why it is easier to find 1.75 over 3 mm filament?
I was told that 3mm was best for printing, less jams, higher resolution...etc..
Is that still consensus?
Should i just give in and convert to 1.75?

Why do you think its easier to find? Virtually every site that sells filament, sells it in both sizes.

There is more abundance in the 1.75 range then in the 3 mm.
I just bought my first spool from maker geeks... Waiting for arrival.
3mm is the older style filament. Some printers do still use it but most printers have converted over to 1.75. Its sort of the opposite of what you have read. 1.75 has better resolution. A little over 3x. As for less jams, neither one is better than the other on this unless we are talking flexible filaments. 3mm is better for that. 3mm would accell on a very large and fast printer that has a very large nozzle like 1mm and up. Other than than that i dont really know why some printers have yet to switch over.
