Are Tesla's Self-Driving Cars Overhyped?
Tesla Motors has been making incredible advances in the systems required to eventually bring about a self driving car. Unfortunately, they have been overstating their performance claims which has led to accidents and loss of life as well as an erosion of faith in the company's potential to actually deliver on its promises. Rather than toning down in the face of criticism, company founder Elon Musk has gone on the offensive, attacking critics and accusing them of responsibility for future driver error related deaths. All of this greatly diminishes the positive reception of any advances that have been made in this truly remarkable technology.
