How 3D Printing May Help Us Colonize Mars

French design firm Fabulous gathered a multidisciplinary team of several CNRS and Mars Society scientists, architects, image specialists, and 3D printing technologies and materials experts to take a crack at creating a 3D printable Mars habitat. Their creation is called Sfero and starts as a pole-shaped robot that can be embedded in the surface of Mars. The robot will convert the high concentrations of iron in Martian soil into raw materials and then 3D print metal structures to house colonialists.
