3D Printed Security Drones

Akshay Budhiraja, George Xu, Mark Anthony Wijaya and Shakir Ali built a 3D printed drone as a student project, and the work led to the creation of a company aimed at producing them for security services. The drone, dubbed the Avian, costs about $500 in this first iteration, and the team says it's capable of operating autonomously or following pre-programmed paths. While the current version of the drone can fly for about 20 minutes before recharging, the team says a smaller version in the works will nearly double that flight time.
