New Techniques Allow for New 3D Printed Substrates

Researchers have released findings related to the development of a new 3D printing technique that would allow for the application of nanomaterials to flexible, 3D substrates without the need for additional heat treatment. The team, composed of scientists and engineers from NASA's Ames Research Center and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, demonstrated the viability of their process by printing chemical and biological sensors. Additional testing has revealed the possibilities present in this new printing method for the application of copper to thin sheets of aluminum in order to create micro sized batteries.
