Disccovering the Past in Jamestown's 'Ed Shed'

You wouldn't necessarily think of a historical rediscovery site as the location to look for cutting edge technology, but the folks at the Jamestown site are hoping to change your mind. This past June, they opened what they are calling the Educational Shed ("Ed Shed") that pairs historical information with 3D scanning and printing technologies to allow visitors to Jamestown to interact with the location in a whole new way. It was planned as a way to provide something that would be more engaging for children, but it has turned out to be very appealing for a much wider audience. With over 10,000 visitors under its belt and review comments describing it as someone's "favorite thing ever" it would be hard to classify this effort as anything but an unquestionable success.
