MIT Researchers Create Soft Material to Protect 3D Printed Electronics

Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) have created a new 3D printing material that can be used to protect not only electronic devices such as robots, but also a wide range of other applications. Programmable viscoelastic materials (PVMs) can be used to create soft protection for items like 3D printed robots, drones, sports equipment, and more. The research team will be presenting their paper at next week’s IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems in South Korea.
