3D Printed Upper and Lower Jaws used for Cancer Patient's Prosthetic Mold
Osteo3D, based in Bangalore India has used 3D printing to improve the life of a cancer patient who had a sizable portion of his upper jaw removed. Because he could not open his mouth wide enough to get an impression taken, they were forced to 3D print a model of his upper and lower jaw via a CT scan, and use those prints to create the impression for a wax mold for a prosthetic. More details of this incredible application of 3D printing can be found here: http://3dprint.com/19617/osteo3d-3d-print-mouth/
Below is a picture of the 3D printed upper and lower jaws with the prosthetic in red.
