Chinese Company 3D Prints Entire plastic bike
We've see a lot of 3D printed bikes come into existence recently, but we haven't seen one printed entirely in plastic. That is until now. A man in China has 3D printed a colorful plastic bicycle that actually can hold a human's weight and be driven. No details on whether or not he will sell these bikes has been announced, but It seems as though his creation is quite unique. Would you ride a bicycle made by a 3D printer (in plastic)? This is really great work but...
...how long do you think a single printer has to run to print that bike?
How many issues will there be with warping, under extrusion and waredown of the print head?
FDM printed parts have really good strength in layer direction. Against layer direction you have a weaker material and a very high chance of micro-cracks getting in between the layers during a longer tour.
Anyway, the design, the engineering and the CAD modelling seems to be really, really good :D It shows what is possible with this technology, but I don't see this on the market in the future.
Cheers,
