Would printing slightly hotter make your z axis strength go up?
It can, but only if you're not yet at the ideal temperature. You are either getting a good bond with the layer beneath and the bead adjacent, or you're not.
Slowing the print speed can help as well, as the material stays at temperature longer before cooling off - allowing time for a better bond. Also try reducing the cooling.
Post printing treatment is a good way I've found to strengthen layers together. Acetone vapor or brushing on, or Epoxy.
If you go too hot you may damage the polymer. See vendors info : 280°C for nylon for instance.
Also, hotter temps mean more heat dissipation necessary.
More than an ideal tempreture is not good for printing. If you print on very high tempreture, the prints will become very weak. Use an ideal tempreture for a strong print.
