Download 3.6 Version of Makerbot desktop and connect to your mini, upgrade the printer with the newest firmware and then install 3.7 Software to work.
Thanks for the tip. It's also my guess. But I can't find a 3.6 driver anywhere. Thanks a lot for the link. It works like a charm.
BTW, who would do something like this to their own product? when I look at the online Makerbot support page for USB connection, it says:" make sure you have the latest firmware" How the Fxxx do I get the firmware update with no USB connection? Epic failure.
I think this way Makerbot wants to tell that you need to have a newest firmware, instead of asking to update it on every possible media source :)
There is a known issue connecting to printers with older firmware on 3.7. If you suspect you have this issue you will likely need to downgrade to 3.6. Please contact support@makerbot.com with this issue and we would be happy to help!
Sorry for those long wait times! We're doing our best to keep up with the calls. I recommend for you to call after 6 PM EST. We have the lowest call volume then.
You should not have to open up a $100 support incident since your printer was purchased within the past sixty days. For more information on our warranty please take a look here:

You may have been directed to open a PPI because your printer was not registered. If you continue to have issues submitting cases please give us a call at (347) 334-6800 and let us know.
To answer your final question, Newegg is not an official distributor for MakerBot products. Here is a list all MakerBot authorized resellers:
