Hovalin, the Open Source 3D Printed Violin

When Matt Hova saw a picture of a 3D printed violin on Instagram, he immediately wanted to make one for his wife, Kaitlyn. After using the printed instrument, Kaitlyn had some complaints about it and so they set about to design their very own 3D printed violin. One and a half years later, they have released the Hovalin, a 3D printed instrument inspired by Stradivarius. The Hovas hope that this method of creating instruments might help forge a stronger connection between STEM and the Arts, an issue for which they both have a strong passion.
