Intel Announces Layoffs, Heading in Direction of Internet of Things & More

Recently, Intel dropped a bombshell on thousands of its employees with the announcement that the company would be cutting 12,000 jobs at the end of May. The mass layoff brings to the surface one of the unfortunate side effects of technological revolution: companies often must make brutal cuts if they want to avoid becoming obsolete. Intel, once known for the personal computer, began turning in a dramatically different direction a couple of years ago, focusing on the Internet of Things, data centers and other cutting-edge technology.
